Hi beauties! So I’ve recently tried three new products that caught my eye. I picked up the e.l.f. Cosmetics Fine as Fleck Glitter Eyeshadow, the Natasha Denona Roxa Eyeshadow Palette, and the Wicked eyeshadow palette set from r.e.m. beauty. Let’s see if they’re worth the price!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Fine as Fleck Glitter Eyeshadow
I bought the e.l.f. Cosmetics Fine as Fleck Glitter Eyeshadow, and I’m actually surprised I was able to get it, because I assumed Target would be out of stock. I grabbed the last two colors Target had left-Pink Sparkle and Gold Sparkle. This is a long lasting sheer eyeshadow topper with microfine flecks.
It’s a soft and smooth formula without being gritty. I know a lot of people are comparing the Champagne Sparkle to Urban Decay’s Space Cowboy. Personally, I don’t think it’s as pigmented in general as Urban Decay. e.l.f. does say is supposed to be a sheer topper, and I think that’s pretty accurate.
It’s very pretty, but subtle. I didn’t expect it to be as bright as Urban Decay, so I don’t think it’s a dupe, but they are both similar and very pretty. If you’re a minimalist or natural girlie, this is definitely for you.
Roxa Eyeshadow Palette by Natasha Denona
The Roxa Eyeshadow Palette by Natasha Denona has 15 shades with hues of purple, pink, and fuchsia. This is her new silky matte formula, but this is my first big ND palette, so I can’t personally confirm how different it is compared to her other matte finishes.
I can’t use my fingers to apply shades, because of my disability, so I’m not going to be the best person to tell you if there’s a difference. Purple eyeshadows are hard to make in general, but I didn’t notice if it was a different formula than any other matte shade. As someone who loves makeup but needs products that are easy to use due to my disability, I was excited to see how these would work for me. In this post, I’ll share my honest thoughts on each one—what worked, what didn’t, and who I think will love them.
I started off with the color Cerise (fuchsia) for the inner part of my eyelids, and then switched to Jacaranda (purple) for the outer corners. I used Stargirl, which is a duochrome sparkly pink eyeshadow over Cerise. Then I went in with the color Bolt, which has a sparkly silver and purple metallic finish to go over Jacaranda.
Stargirl looks like an icy white shade which usually applies as a more purple, but it’s actually very pink in color. Bolt is very pretty and probably the most popular shade-at least it was for me. Be careful though, because it’s crumbly.
It’s not something that bothers me, but just be aware because it can get messy. I think this palette is actually more pink than purple. Obviously, there are purple shades, but most of them turned out to be more pink. It was slightly disappointing, but at the same time it wasn’t, because it’s still very beautiful.
Overall I love it, and I’m glad I can add it to my collection.
Wicked Eyeshadow Palette
Trust me, I REALLY wanted to like this palette. I also know I’m not your average reviewer, and it takes me longer to do my makeup. I was never crazy about the color story, but I thought I could work around it.
The matte’s are nice, but any glitter or foiled shades are patchy. I gave up, and had to lay down because my shoulders were so achy from trying to make it work. 🤣
I feel like they could’ve made this a much smaller book too. Something around the same size as the Glinda and Elphaba Makeup sets. It also wastes a lot of packaging. I really sound like an old lady when I complain about the packaging. 😂 I think it’s because I’ve been using makeup for so long, so I’ve seen and used a lot of palette’s.
Yes, it’s very cute. It’s the main reason why I bought it. r.e.m. beauty has good quality products, so I’m really surprised by how this turned out. I think this would really fit well with tweens and teens. Especially someone who doesn’t own a lot of makeup yet. I don’t think it’s made for old-timers like me. 😆 I think I’ll get the makeup sets instead.
Conclusion
The e.l.f. eyeshadow is perfect for adding a soft, sparkly touch, and Natasha Denona’s palette is great for people like me who love bold pinks and purples, even if it takes a little extra effort. The r.e.m. beauty set fun but patchy. It also has a lot of fallout, but I think it’s good if you’re a Wicked fan. Especially for those just starting to explore makeup. If you like simple looks or bold colors, there’s something here for everyone.
