Here’s the scoop. Blending blushes like a pro for the sunset blush trend or adding a touch of gold with your lip gloss, makeup is all about having fun. Sometimes things work out perfectly, and sometimes they don’t – but that’s all part of the process. So here’s another week, and another bundle of makeup I had try for you all.

Sunset Blush Makeup

I’ve wanted to try the sunset blush trend for a while, but I’m not the best with liquid blushes. I can barely do one color, but two is scary. Still, I always try everything even if I can’t end up doing it. Since I already had the liquid blushes in my stash, so I figured I should try.

To start I used elf’s liquid camo blush in Gorg Orange, and Juvia’s Place blush in Pink Lady. I don’t own many liquid highlights, so I picked up the Milani Conceal + Perfect Face liquid highlighter at Target. I applied Gorg Orange first at the high point of my cheeks, then I added Lady Killer below it. Most tutorials add the highlighter above the blush, but I wanted to add it after I blended the blushes in.

I don’t blend both of them in together, because then it just turns into one color. You don’t really get an ombre effect that way I like to blend out orange and tap it down towards pink. Once it’s blended in, I then add the Melani concealer highlighter. I used my elf puddy brush for the blushes, and tapped my fingers to blend in the highlighter. I NEVER do this because using my fingers has never worked out well, but the highlighter was sheer and I didn’t think a brush would be enough.

Both blushes are very pigmented, so don’t freak out about how bright it gets. I had to really sheer it out with my concealer sponge, and it gave me the perfect amount of blush. I added the highlighter after I got the right amount of pigment, and blended it in with my finger.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m surprised I was able to pull it off, and it didn’t come out terrible! I was a little proud of myself 🤭 I’m definitely going to practice with less blush though.

wet n wild Date Or Dominate?

I recently saw Wet n Wild post their new collection, Date Or Dominate eye and face palette on Threads, and I thought it looked fun to try. It’s different and not something I would ordinarily pick out myself, so I bought it, because I wanted to know how it performs as a face palette too.

I was going for a soft makeup summer look, so I only used two of the matte shades. One is mauve, and the other one was more of a mauve pink. All the shades have a lot of fallout, but they’re pretty pigmented, so that’s doesn’t personally bother me. Especially because it’s only $6.99.

Since it’s an eye and face palette I thought I’d use the mauve color as a blush too. It looked like I punched in the face, because it looked like a giant bruise on my cheek. I’m honestly not sure what qualifies this as a face palette, because it looks like any other eyeshadow quad to me. Honestly, honestly, I think they just added the face part. Like it was a last-minute decision.

I tried the silver and black shades the day before, and those were good too. The black shadow is very pigmented with a little sparkle, and the silver shade was more foiled. These are probably two shades. You want to use before you put on foundation because of the fallout.

It definitely does what it’s supposed to do as eyeshadow, but like I said earlier, I’m not sure what makes it a face palette too. I feel like I already own these colors in separate eyeshadow palettes, so I’m not sure I’ll reach for it again. I think I would mostly use it for the mauve colors if I did.

NYX Jumbo Butter Lip Gloss 25K Gold

I was so excited about this lipgloss. Recently NYX released a jumbo butter gloss with a charm for their birthday, and I HAD to have it! I was hoping it would get released at Ulta, but mine is closing, so they’re not getting any new stock (don’t get me started).

Instead, I ordered it on the NYX website, but I’m not sure if it’s a website exclusive item. I even paid shipping, which I never do. But it’s a JUMBO Nyx butter gloss with a CHARM! Combine makeup with accessories, and I’m all over it. You should see my Kaja collection.

I have a drawer full of charms and Bath and Body Works pocketbak holders. I like to put one on whatever purse I’m using that day. Just something to give it a little extra flair. If I can add another layer of cuteness, I’m adding purse charms, silk scarves, and keychains. I get excited easily.

The lip gloss is called 25K Gold, and I have to be honest. I thought it would be more sparkling. BUT the gold flecks are noticeable, but subtle. It was a little disappointing since it looks so incredibly sparkly in the bottle. Still, it’s a butter gloss, and those are always worth keeping around.

You can detach the charm too but the clasp is pretty small, so I don’t think you would be able to add any regular charm to it. I personally wouldn’t take it off anyway, because my intrusive thoughts would never let me separate them. This is also why I can never scoop my Laneige lip masks. 🤭

Conclusion

This week I decided to try out the sunset blush makeup trend. I’m no makeup guru, but I thought I’d give it a shot. A bit nerve-wracking, but hey, gotta start somewhere, right? So I went for it. I tried layering the blushes instead of just mixing them together, and it actually worked! Moving on to the Date Or Dominate eye and face palette from Wet n Wild. Despite the pigmentation, I couldn’t figure out how this was supposed to be a face palette, because it’s just an eyeshadow quad. Now onto my favorite product. The NYX jumbo butter lip gloss that has this adorable charm. Though the gloss didn’t deliver on the sparkle, the subtle golden flecks were still pretty, but not the most glittering gloss I thought it’d be. Until next week…
