Summer Makeup Looks You Need To Try Right Now

You know how summer is all about those bright, fun colors? Well, I decided to do a few summer makeup looks by starting with a candy-inspired makeup look. I also tried out a mini Sephora birthday gift set with a Kosas brow gel and lip oil. However, I couldn’t even open the brow gel! Luckily I have a backup brow gel from Half Magic Beauty, and it did a pretty good job taming my wild brows. The lip oil smelled like cookies and had a nice, thick formula that I liked way better than another one I tried before. Lastly, I couldn’t resist trying out those Mexican Prosa mascaras everyone’s been raving about on TikTok. They come in a trio with different colored tops and different purposes. Cotton Candy Summer Makeup Look

Bright colors and pastels are on trend for a summer makeup look, so I thought I would try to do candy makeup look using my Juvia’s Place The Candy Shop Palette, and Colourpop’s Blue Moon palette (I think it’s called blue dream now). At first I thought about doing a blue look, but the candy shop palette wouldn’t stop calling my name.

First, I used Moonlite from the blue moon palette on the inner corner of my eyes. Since I have hooded eyelids, it can be tricky to make enough room for several eyeshadow shades. Moonlight was the perfect pastel blue I pictured in my head. Next I used the lightest pink shade in the candy shop palette for the middle of my lids.

It has a coral undertone, so I wasn’t sure it would come out exactly as a pastel color. It took a lot of layers to look as pink as I wanted, but it came out such a cute baby pink! For a second I thought I was doing a gender reveal on my eyes.

The outer corner of my eye is always hard. Like I said, I don’t have a lot of space, so 90% of the time I have to clean up my eyes because it looks like I went crazy with a Crayola crayon. I took the darkest pink shade from the Juvia’s Place palette, and carefully tapped it into my outer corner. Normally my makeup routine is just blending in the outer corner and fixing it when I’m done, but it takes so much time and energy from me. I wanted to make it easier, and it worked! It didn’t look like I had a mess to clean up, and added so much depth with that tiny space.

I’ve tried doing this before, but I think I was using the wrong brush. With all three colors on my lid, I went into the very first shade in the palette, which is a pink glimmer shade. I put it over the light pink in the middle to make it stand out with a halo effect. After blending in the shades on top, I was definitely feeling proud of myself, haha.

I’ve never been good at trying to copy a look, much less summer makeup looks. I think I’ve watched enough makeup videos to feel a bit more confident though. And it didn’t turn out as hard as I thought! It was pretty simple and easy using three eyeshadows and one glitter shade. Don’t be intimidated to try new makeup techniques because you don’t think you can. You DEFINITELY can. Just don’t overthink it.

Sephora Insider Birthday Gift

I thought in honor of my birthday, I would do the mini Sephora birthday gift set. I received it a few weeks ago and I meant to do it before, but then my birthday came. Life of a procrastinator. I chose the Kosas set, because these are the only two makeup items I don’t own!

It comes with a mini air brow gel, and a wet lip oil. Funny thing about the brow gel… We couldn’t get it open. Tools, warm water, and etc didn’t even loosen it. I’m convinced it’s sealed.

I do have a new brow gel from Half Magic Beauty though. I haven’t reviewed it yet, so I figured now would be the time. To be honest I wish the bottle was a little bigger. It looks more like a mini size to me, but the bigger things are, the easier it is for me to hold.

I have curly eyebrows because of my hair, so I need a little bit more strength to tame these babies. Everything I’ve tried is too crunchy or leaves a residue. I’ve been using the Anastasia brow gel, and it’s slightly better. My eyebrow hair will stick a little more, but the Half Magic eyebrow gel did do a pretty good job. I’d recommend it if you don’t have wild hair like mine.

Next I tried the Kosas Wet Lip Oil in Unbuttoned. It definitely smells like a cookie or some kind of baked good, which I didn’t mind, ha! I think I like the Kosas lip oil more than the Summer Fridays, which I think is the last one I tried. It’s a very thin formula, and it reminds me more of a water tint. I like the Kosas more, because it’s thicker and has more pigmentation. I’ll probably reach for it more than the Summer Fridays one.

Prosa Mascara Trio

I’ve been seeing the Mexican Prosa mascara’s all over the clock app, so I bought the trio. However, three mascaras sound like a lot, and it is; but all these videos would pop up with amazing results. I mean, I can only resist for so long.

It can make your entire summer makeup looks at the beach! All three mascaras have different colored tops to distinguish them. The first one has a purple top and is a maxi-volume mascara. The second one has a silver top, and is the microfiber mascara, and finally, the third mascara has a black top that’s labeled as the professional mascara.

The the first mascara (purple top) has a very thick wand, and is super soft. This was was my least favorite, because it didn’t make that much of a difference to my lashes. I think it’s because the brush was too soft, but I’m just guessing.

The second one (silver top) is s microfiber mascara that performed more like an actual mascara. The third one (black top) is the professional mascara that made my lashes thicker and longer. At least I think that’s its job.

They all have different purposes, but it wasn’t that noticeable to me. It looked like I was wearing any other mascara. I definitely get more volume and curl with my Rare Beauty and Too Faced Mascaras. This is more for people who have short and sparse lashes, because I’ve seen the videos, and they look amazing! I just don’t think it’s for me.

Conclusion

Trying out new colors experimenting with different makeup products is all about having fun and finding what works best for you. If you’re creating summer makeup look from a candy-inspired trend, trying out new brow gels and lip oils, and different mascara-then every step of the way is a chance to find out what looks best for you. If things don’t always turn out how you pictured it, then use the same concept and make it up. Don’t be afraid to try new trends. You never know how it’s going to turn out.
