The Best Heat Proof Makeup You Need To Wear

Extreme heat and humidity are the perfect conditions for seeing how well products can work for heat proof makeup, especially for someone like me, with oily and textured skin. I’ve also been testing some lip products that are popular dupes for the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm. Lastly, I’m embracing my “lip liner era”. I picked up Nyx and Palladio retractable lip liners, and since I don’t have the dexterity to sharpen lip pencils, these retractable ones are much easier to use.
NYX Cosmetics The Face Glue Primer and Setting Spray
We’re currently in an excessive heat wave, so I thought it would be the perfect time to try out the new NYX Cosmetics The Face Glue Primer and Setting Spray for heat proof makeup. After applying them and doing a full face of makeup, I did a check-in throughout the day to see how my makeup was holding up. I thought it was a good compromise, because I really can’t show you I’m putting the primer and setting spray on myself, because of my disability.
I know people like to see the actual application going on in beauty videos, but I can’t do that. I guess I fear no one will believe me, because I can’t physically prove it to you. I’ve seen enough videos of people accusing beauty content creators of lying, because the video was cut, and they didn’t see it with their own eyes.
That was my fear I guess. I thought talking would be a more honest approach since I like to be real about my reviews.
Moving on!
The primer is really lightweight and moisturizing. I didn’t really expect it to be heavy, but sometimes with tacky products, you never know. I was more worried about the setting spray. The last one I tried was the L’Oreal Infallible 3-Second Setting Mist Spray, and it was so heavy it felt like hairspray, and made my skin feel tight.
I’m happy to say that the face glue setting spray definitely doesn’t feel like that. I knew we would be out most of the day, and my makeup didn’t even move an inch. I checked in every few hours, but by 11 PM it didn’t budge. This isn’t going to keep you from getting oily, but it will definitely make sure your heat proof makeup stays in place all day.
It was kind of glorious. Especially seeing how good it looked by 11 PM. Needless to say, I love the duo. I know it’s more about the staying power of makeup, but it also kept me matte. If you have oily skin like me, you’ll like it too.
Laneige Lip Glowy Balm Dupes?
There are a lot of “dupes” for the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm, so I wanted to compare Gummy Bear to my Ulta Lip Quench in Banana, and e.l.f. Squeeze Me Lip Balm in Vanilla Frosting. These both apply clear even though they have different tones of yellow. Ulta is brighter while elf is more of an off white. I couldn’t tell the difference between the two except for the scent. I did prefer the e.l.f. lip balm because Vanilla Frosting smells better to me.
Next up was the Ulta Lip Quench in Raspberry, and Laneige in Gummy Bear. Both have purple tones, but Ulta has more red in it. There was definitely more of a difference between these two. Laneige immediately felt thicker and smelled sweeter, but not in an overpowering way. All the scents don’t stay long once applied.
Overall I think it’s no surprise Laneige is the winner. HOWEVER, you can’t tell which one is on your lips. All 3 apply clear and looked the same. The formula and price are the only difference. I think the Ulta and e.l.f. lip balms are on an equal level formula wise
Nyx and Palladio Lip Liners
I’m in my lip liner era.
Beautyplussalon.com gifted me a $50 gift card through Benable, and I knew immediately I wanted to get lip liners. Of course I had to pick Nyx and Palladio liners, because they’re retractable. It’s a lot easier for me since I don’t have to manually sharpen them, which is great for my hands. I started with the NYX retractable waterproof lip liners, and tried on:
🎀Nectar
🎀Citrus
🎀Peony
🎀Hot Pink
🎀Ruby
I wanted to go with universal colors I could wear all year round. I think I chose five good colors for that! For Palladio I chose three browns for fall.
I wish I could try on every lip liner with a matching lipstick, but I don’t have the stamina for that. I knew I would be bending over a lot, so I decided to use my black Clarins lip oil, because it’s just a clear lip oil. I had the idea I to fill in my lips with the lip liners, and cover it with a clear gloss. I wanted to show the true color of the liners, and I thought this was a good way to do it.
Next I tried on the Palladio lip liners in:
💕Nearly Nude
💕Sand
💕Black Cherry
You can never go wrong with a nude lip liner for for browns and pinks. Plus, I have so many new brown balms and glosses for fall, I thought it would be a good match.
It definitely was because I’ve used all three colors in the past few days.
Conclusion
The Nyx Cosmetics The Face Glue primer and setting spray were definitely a winner, especially for heat proof makeup. It didn’t stop me from getting oily, but it did keep my make up in place all day, which was what I wanted for with my oily skin. Next I compared the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm to affordable dupes like Ulta and e.l.f. I think Laneige is still the winner in formula. The affordable options are great too, especially if you’re on a budget. For my lip liner journey, I’m glad I found retractable liners from Nyx and Palladio that work for me. They’re convenient, but also come in pretty shades that I’ll use all year. Even though I can’t show you every product I apply in videos, I still like doing honest reviews and share what works best for my disability. Not only is my goal is to help others with similar disabilities issues, but also find products that work. I hope my reviews encourage you to try something new!
